A prominent stalwart of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and business mogul, Alhaji Ahmad Mai Bulawus of Mana Karama, popularly known as Amadi Mai Bulawus, has defected from the ADC to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), alongside his supporters.
Alhaji Ahmad announced his defection when Governor Ahmed Aliyu visited his mother at their residence in the Mana Karama area of Sokoto South Local Government Area, as part of the Governor’s condolence visits to bereaved families in Sokoto metropolis.
Explaining the reasons for his decision, Alhaji Ahmad said his defection was motivated by Governor Aliyu’s humility and respect for elders, adding that his decision had received the endorsement of his mother.
He said he was particularly overwhelmed by the Governor’s decision to visit his family and the respect he accorded his mother.
According to him, Governor Aliyu had previously sought his support, but he declined.
He, however, said he had now decided to join the APC in recognition of what he described as the Governor’s laudable projects across the state.
“From today, I want to inform you that I have defected to the APC, and I will support our Governor 100 per cent,” he said.
Speaking shortly after receiving the new entrant, the Chairman of Sokoto South Local Government Area, Hon. Ya’u Muhammad Danda, commended the business mogul for what he described as his foresight in joining the APC alongside his supporters.
He assured Alhaji Ahmad that he would be treated equally with other members of the party and carried along in its affairs.
According to Malam Danda, the APC family wholeheartedly welcomes Alhaji Ahmad and his supporters.
“I want to assure you that Governor Aliyu is an honest gentleman who matches words with action. I am sure you will enjoy being with us,” he added.
Malam Ya’u also appealed to Alhaji Ahmad to mobilise his supporters to support the APC in the 2027 elections.
