..unveils two-million-man mobilisation plan
…To deploy 10 luxury buses for transportation support
… Says movement will mobilise across six geopolitical zones
Hon. Abba Atiku Abubakar, son of former Vice President and the African Democratic Congress (ADC) Presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, has declared his support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid.
This is as he announced the unveiling plans to mobilise two million supporters across the six geopolitical zones.
Abba, who is the Founder and Chairman of the Haske Bola Tinubu Organisation (HBTO), made the declaration on Friday during a press conference at the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Secretariat, Abuja.
He said his decision to establish and lead the organisation was a personal political conviction, stressing that individuals should be free to make independent political choices irrespective of their family relationships and personal affiliations.
Although acknowledging that his political position might attract public attention because of his relationship with individuals holding different political opinions, Abba said he had no reservations about his decision to support Tinubu and the APC-led administration.
“My decision to establish and lead the Haske Bola Tinubu Organisation is a deliberate political choice, one I have made in my personal capacity and with a firm belief in the direction we have chosen to pursue,” he said.
He explained that HBTO was established as a political mobilisation and support platform to bring together Nigerians who believe in Tinubu’s leadership and reform agenda.
According to him, the organisation will focus on grassroots mobilisation, community engagement and communicating government policies to Nigerians.
Explaining the reasons for supporting the President, Abba cited interventions in the education sector through the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), investments in road infrastructure and increased allocations to state governments through the Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC).
He also identified the N70,000 transportation support for public sector workers and other interventions as some of the considerations informing his support for the administration.
While acknowledging that the economic reforms had come with difficult adjustments for Nigerians, he maintained that the initiatives were designed to address longstanding structural challenges and reposition the country for sustainable growth.
As part of its intervention, the organisation announced plans to provide 10 luxury buses to ease transportation challenges, beginning with the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, before extending the programme to other parts of the country.
Abba said the initiative was intended to demonstrate that political support should go beyond rhetoric and include practical contributions to improving the lives of citizens.
On the organisation’s mobilisation strategy ahead of the 2027 general election, he disclosed plans to embark on a two-million-man mobilisation march across the six geopolitical zones, beginning in Abuja.
He said the immediate priority was to support the FCT Minister in his political mobilisation efforts and work towards securing victory for Tinubu in the territory.
The HBTO chairman also disclosed that the organisation was preparing for a major mobilisation exercise in Rivers State next week, adding that its structures and supporters were being activated for the exercise.
He said the organisation would establish structures across the six geopolitical zones, strengthen its state and zonal networks and collaborate with other political groups to mobilise support for Tinubu’s re-election.
“We intend to establish a presence across the geopolitical zones, strengthen our state and zonal structures, engage community stakeholders and work collaboratively with other progressive political forces towards the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027,” he stated.
He called on political stakeholders, community leaders, youth organisations and women’s groups to collaborate with the organisation, insisting that HBTO was committed to translating its political convictions into practical action.
Abba’s declaration comes against the backdrop of the political differences between his support for Tinubu and the opposition political position associated with his father, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.
He, however, maintained that democracy thrives when individuals are allowed to make independent political decisions and support political platforms that reflect their convictions.
