2027: Yari Gives Charge To Directorates After Inaugural Meeting
… Directs teams to develop work plans, says Tinubu has entrusted them with responsibility
The Director-General of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council (PCC), Senator Abdullaziz Yari, has directed the council’s directorates to develop comprehensive work plans outlining how they intend to discharge their responsibilities ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Yari gave the directive on Tuesday in Abuja after the first inaugural meeting of the directorates at the Presidential Campaign Office in the Central Business District (CBD).
Speaking with the media after the meeting, he said the meeting focused on assigning responsibilities and ensuring that each directorate developed a clear strategy for achieving the council’s objectives in the campaign for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election in 2027.
He described members of the council as trustees of the President, stressing that the confidence reposed in them must be justified through effective performance.
“This meeting is a short one. What we did, we directed the directorates to go and work to come up with their work plan and how best they are going to carry out this responsibility,” he said.
The former Zamfara State governor added: “We reminded them that we are all here on trust. Each and every person who sits down under this roof is a trustee of the President.
“The President trusted us, and he gave us this responsibility. We must carry it out well and very, very well.”
The directive signals the commencement of the operational phase of the APC-PCC’s preparations for the 2027 presidential election, with the various directorates expected to translate their mandates into actionable plans.
However, he did not disclose specific timelines for submitting the work plans or provide details of the individual directorates’ proposed activities; he expressed confidence that the council would discharge its responsibilities effectively.
Beyond the inauguration and coordination of the directorates, Yari said the campaign council would sustain its consultations with traditional rulers across the country as part of efforts to seek their blessings and prayers for the President’s re-election bid.
Responding to a question on the next phase of his engagements with royal fathers, following visits to traditional institutions in parts of northern and southern Nigeria, the PCC director-general said the consultations were far from over.
According to him, the traditional rulers occupy an important position in the country’s social structure and maintain close relationships with the grassroots.
“We are still on with traditional rulers. As I said, we are visiting the royal fathers because we just seek for their blessing. We need their prayers,” he said.
Yari explained that the consultations also provided an opportunity for the campaign council to communicate its position and objectives to traditional institutions.
“And being the authority closest to the masses of the country, we need to go and explain to them where we are and where we want to go,” he added.
He disclosed that the next major stop in the council’s campaign mobilisation programme would be Kaduna State on October 24, 2026, after which the engagements would continue until January 16, 2027.
“So the next is Kaduna, 24th of October, 2026. And then from there, the journey continues until 16th of January, 2027. At the end, by God’s grace, you know the result,” Yari said.
