APC Set To Receive, Integrate 10,000 Defectors From ADC, PDP, NDC

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has expressed its readiness to receive and integrate over 10,000 members of various political parties, including the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), who are expected to formally defect to the ruling party under the platform of the Maji Johnson Bello (MJB) Movement.

The APC made this known on Tuesday during a courtesy visit by the executive members of the MJB Movement to the party’s National Secretariat in Abuja ahead of the planned defection ceremony.

Receiving the delegation on behalf of the National Chairman of the APC, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, the Chairman’s Personal Private Secretary, Comrade Jibrin Bancir, described the planned defection as a major boost for the ruling party and a reflection of growing confidence in both the APC and the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Bancir said the APC was encouraged by the grassroots reach, organisational strength and political network of the MJB Movement, assuring members of the group that the party would provide the necessary framework for their seamless integration into its structures nationwide.

According to him, the incoming members would not only be welcomed into the party but would also be actively involved in its activities from the ward level to the national level.

“We are delighted by the huge capacity that the MJB Movement is bringing to the table. The APC is ready to receive and integrate all of you into the structures of the party. We will work out the necessary procedures to ensure that everybody has a place to operate and contribute meaningfully at the local level,” Bancir said.

He stressed the importance of grassroots participation in politics, noting that the APC would ensure that all new members were properly registered and recognised within the party’s structures.

“Politics is local. We will ensure that everybody knows you in your local government as bona fide members of the APC. We want you to become part and parcel of the party at the ward, local government, state and national levels,” he added.

Bancir further urged the leadership of the MJB Movement to sustain its mobilisation efforts, assuring them of the support of the party leadership throughout the transition process.

Earlier, Chairman of the MJB Movement, Hon. Maji Johnson Bello, said the decision to join the APC was driven by the Movement’s belief in the economic reforms being implemented by President Tinubu.

Bello said members of the group had carefully assessed the country’s situation and concluded that the administration’s policies offered the most viable pathway to addressing Nigeria’s economic challenges and achieving sustainable development.

According to him, the Movement’s decision was not based on political convenience but on its conviction that the President’s reform agenda deserved broad national support.

“We have taken time to examine the situation in the country and the reforms being undertaken by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. We are convinced that the direction of the administration offers Nigeria the best opportunity to overcome its present economic realities and build a stronger future,” Bello said.

He disclosed that the Movement would deploy its extensive grassroots network to mobilise more Nigerians into the APC ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Bello added that the planned defection of over 10,000 members was only the first phase of a wider mobilisation drive aimed at strengthening the APC across the country and expanding support for President Tinubu’s administration.
