The African People’s Movement (APM) governorship candidate in Lagos State, Prince Laja Adeoye, has vowed to “Reset” the state as his campaign organisation officially commenced electioneering ahead of the 2027 governorship election.

The Laja Adeoye Campaign Organisation (LACO), in a statement issued on Wednesday by its spokesman, Ayodele Kazeem, said the campaign followed the timetable released by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The organisation described the commencement of the campaign, tagged “Atunto Eko 1.0,” as the beginning of a new phase in its effort to provide Lagosians with what it called a credible, progressive and people-centred alternative.

LACO said the campaign would be issue-based, with the organisation taking its message to communities across the state.

“From the communities of Lagos Island to Epe, from Alimosho to Badagry, from Ikeja to Lagos Mainland, from Agege to Ibeju-Lekki, and across every local government and ward in Lagos State, we are taking our message to the people,” it said.

The campaign organisation said it would focus on policies and solutions rather than personalities, stressing that the electioneering would not be driven by propaganda or empty promises.

“Our campaign will not be about empty promises, propaganda or the politics of personalities. It will be about issues, policies, solutions and the future of Lagos,” the statement said.

According to LACO, Adeoye’s campaign would directly engage residents, listen to their concerns and present practical proposals for addressing the challenges confronting the state.

It identified education, healthcare, housing, transportation, security, employment, infrastructure, flooding, waste management and the welfare of vulnerable residents as key areas of focus.

The organisation said Adeoye’s candidacy would introduce a new approach to political campaigning in Lagos.

“Under the leadership of Prince Laja Adeoye, we are bringing a new standard to political campaigning in Lagos,” it said.

LACO added that its objective was not merely to participate in the election but to “raise the bar for what an issue-based gubernatorial campaign should look like.”

It pledged that the campaign would be thorough, peaceful and respectful, while remaining focused on issues affecting Lagos residents.

The organisation also said it would engage a broad range of stakeholders, including professionals, artisans, traders, youths, women, traditional institutions, religious bodies, civil society organisations and communities across the state.

“We will not speak at Lagosians; we will speak with Lagosians,” it said.

LACO said voters deserved the opportunity to understand the positions and programmes of all governorship candidates and compare their policies, programmes and track records before making their choices.

“The people deserve to understand what each candidate stands for. They deserve to compare policies, programmes and track records. They deserve a campaign where ideas compete with ideas and solutions compete with solutions. That is the standard we are bringing,” it said.

The campaign organisation also urged supporters and volunteers to maintain discipline and respect throughout the electioneering period.

“We will campaign vigorously, but we will do so peacefully and within the provisions of the law,” LACO said.

It concluded with a rallying message to Lagos voters: “Lagos deserves better. Lagos deserves Atunto. Lagos deserves leadership that puts the people first.”
