Human rights activist and African Action Congress (AAC) presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, has alleged that he was attacked and kidnapped by armed thugs in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State, claiming that his current location is unknown.
Sowore raised the alarm in posts on his verified X page on Friday, alleging that the attackers were government-sponsored.
In one of the posts, he wrote: “Armed thugs kidnap Sowore. His current location is unknown!”

In another post, the activist alleged that he and members of his team were brutally attacked and injured by armed men in Ado-Ekiti.
“We have been brutally attacked and injured by well-armed government-sponsored thugs in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State. The @OfficialDSSNG provided these attackers with our exact location, enabling them to carry out this vicious assault. We won’t back down! We have a country to liberate!” he wrote.
The allegations came as Sowore was in Ekiti State for his political activities ahead of the 2027 general election.
He had informed the Federal High Court in Abuja that he travelled to the state for campaign activities, leading to an adjournment of his ongoing cyberbullying trial until November 3.
As of the time of filing this report, details surrounding the alleged attack, the identities of those involved and Sowore’s whereabouts had not been independently confirmed.
