Thousands Welcome Umahi In Ebonyi, Pledge Support For Tinubu
…Hail President’s infrastructure drive, commend appointment of Umahi as Works Minister
Thousands of residents of Uburu and other communities in Ohaozara Local Government Area of Ebonyi State have staged a colourful reception for the Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi, praising President Bola Tinubu for his infrastructure development initiatives across the country.
The residents, who trooped out in large numbers to welcome Umahi during an impromptu homecoming reception on Monday, November 2, also pledged their support for Tinubu’s re-election in 2027.
The reception, which followed the minister’s engagements with stakeholders in Abakaliki, the Ebonyi State capital, provided an opportunity for the people to celebrate Umahi, their illustrious son, and commend his contributions to national development.
The residents expressed pride in Umahi’s appointment as Minister of Works, describing it as a demonstration of Tinubu’s confidence in his leadership capacity and experience in infrastructure development.
They also applauded the minister’s performance, particularly his responsibility for overseeing federal road and bridge projects across the country.
Speaking at the gathering, community leaders, including Onu Okorie, Prince Mathew and Comrade Kingsley Obini, among other prominent stakeholders, separately expressed appreciation for Umahi’s service and the opportunity given to him by the President to contribute to national development.
They noted that the South-East had continued to benefit from federal infrastructure investments, particularly in road and bridge construction, describing the development as significant to a region that has grappled with poor road conditions over the years.
The residents said improved federal road infrastructure would boost economic activities, facilitate movement of people and goods, and enhance the living conditions of communities across the region.
They consequently commended Tinubu for appointing Umahi to the Federal Executive Council, noting that the decision had provided the South-East with an opportunity to contribute meaningfully to national infrastructure development.
The community members also linked their endorsement of Tinubu’s second-term ambition to what they described as the administration’s commitment to infrastructure development and the confidence reposed in Umahi.
The reception, according to a statement issued on Tuesday by the Senior Special Assistant to the Minister of Works on Media, Francis Nwaze, was organised spontaneously by residents following Umahi’s stakeholders’ engagements in Abakaliki.
Nwaze said the gathering attracted people from different communities across Uburu and Ohaozara, who came out to demonstrate their affection for the former Ebonyi State governor and acknowledge his current national assignment.
