Kenneth Okonkwo, spokesperson for the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar, has alleged that President Bola Tinubu’s planned trip to Makkah, Saudi Arabia, is connected to his reported declining health.
New Telegraph had earlier reported that President Tinubu is expected to leave Abuja on Thursday for Makkah to perform Umrah, the lesser Islamic pilgrimage.
The Presidency said the President would use the trip to pray for Nigeria’s peace, unity, stability and progress.

Reacting to the planned trip on his official X handle on Thursday, Okonkwo said the President was taking God’s name in vain.
The veteran actor turned politician said Tinubu’s decision to travel to Makkah to pray for Nigeria meant he was “Really taking the name of God in vain,” adding that the president could not even pray for himself.
Okonkwo said praying for the President would be more challenging if Tinubu continued to conceal his reasons for remaining away from the country.
