Transfer: Gary Neville names club that has already won EPL title after one signing
Manchester United icon, Gary Neville has said that Arsenal have effectively secured the 2026-27 Premier League title with the acquisition of Bruno Guimaraes from Newcastle United.
The Gunners finalised the signing of the former Newcastle United captain on August 8 for a reported transfer fee of £75 million on a four-year contract.
Arsenal dominated the Premier League last season, clinching their first title in 22 years.
This summer, they have further strengthened their squad by signing players such as Christos Tzolis, Illan Meslier and Guimaraes.
Guimaraes had a remarkable spell at Newcastle, scoring 31 goals and providing 32 assists in 195 appearances across all competitions.
The 28-year-old central midfielder was instrumental in the club’s return to the UEFA Champions League and their Carabao Cup victory last year.
Neville expressed his thoughts on the transfer during an interview with The Overlap, via Metro, stating: “I would have backed Arsenal for the Premier League anyway, but I think the Bruno Guimaraes signing just secures the title for Arsenal.
“I love him; he possesses tremendous character and personality. I consider this a significant addition. The Guimaraes signing is substantial; he is an exceptional player. Acquiring him from Newcastle United for £75 million is a noteworthy signing.”
The Gunners are expected to sign Aston Villa centre-back, Ezri Konsa in the coming days for £51 million, according to journalist, David Ornstein.
Arsenal are also looking at a potential move for Juventus winger, Kenan Yildiz this summer.
Although the Turkey international is valued at approximately £85 million, Mikel Arteta is reportedly “eager” to secure his services, according to The Independent, via Metro.
